I’m a college professor in English composition and Technical Writing with a love of sharing information with others. Gen AI has become my cautiously optimistic passion as we look to what the future of education might bring.
I see gen AI writing and research tools as potentially helpful. I also see where problems and harms could occur. Hence the reason for the cautious optimism at this time. I think that we should be having conversations with our students about when it makes sense or could be useful to use gen AI and where it is better to be human-only. Through these thoughtful conversations, we can chart a path forward for ourselves, our students, and education at a whole.
I am open to talking more if you are interested in having me speak to your faculty to help them get started with gen AI. I also run workshops to help faculty think through gen AI literacy activities, syllabus statements, and updating assignments in the age of gen AI.
